I was talking with a colleague in one of my first jobs and the colleague said something so disorientating and insulting that I literally froze and said "OK" and watched as she walked away. I spent the rest of the day going over and over in my mind what caused the woman to say something so awful that I went to my car to cry afterwards.

Coworker, friends, family can have disruptive and disorientating communication that may make us question our own boundaries and values. Sometimes these folks might even make us feel like we are responsible for their feelings.
It has been sometime since that conversation and many like it and I have learned to safely navigate people and their "stuff" and not made to feel anything but safe.
